About the job

Your mission is to build a community of delighted customers, share their stories, and to create the best banking experience in the world. You will be managing our customers and public relations whilst executing Root’s content strategy. You’ll be based at our Kloof Street office in Cape Town.

Growing our community of developers is a key part of this role and forms a large part of Root's strategy. You'll be organising events such as meetups and hackathons, and creating online content, from blog posts and guides, to stories of what customers have built.

You will be providing direct support to Root's growing customer base, as well as manage signing up new customers onto the platform.

The ideal candidate would have hands-on experience in organising similar events and writing content. The most important ingredient to us is the attitude and cultural fit of the candidate. We value people who can stay focused and get stuff done.

Responsibilities

Own the customer’s experience all the way from signup.

Provide support to our community and customers base.

Engage and grow our online community, e.g. Slack, Twitter.

User stories: help and encourage people to build things on Root and share their creations.

Content creation: write blog posts, articles, guides and other communications materials.

Plan and manage all event logistics for our marketing & community events.

Signing up new customers: onboard and guide new customers onto the platform as well as efficiently getting their Root card delivered to them.

Requirements

You have a Bachelor's degree.

You're extremely organised and detail-oriented.

You have a flexible attitude to work, including supporting evening and weekend events & travelling as required.

1-3 years of hands-on experience in the technology sector or a startup environment.

You get technology. Our customers are developers who often speak in jargon, and you can grok what they’re saying.

You are a proactive and thoughtful communicator, both over the phone and via email and social media. You know how to surface great content before, during and after events.

This is a full-time role.

You’ve written quality content and published it online.

Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mind set.

You have a useful idea that you want to build on Root (extra points if you’ve actually built it).
